My favourite Telltale game that is currently running is back, with more laughs and action. Our Tales from the Borderlands Episode 3 Catch A Ride Review comes at you here and the game is out now, so what is in store for our anti-heroes this time round?
WARNING! THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS TO PREVIOUS EPISODES!
After the cliffhanger from the previous episode, our heroes Fiona and Rhys are thrown right into action as Hyperion has them cornered with escape seeming impossible, but as we learnt from the previous instalments nothing is impossible for our heroes. This episode again explores more of the Borderlands universe introducing a few new characters into the mix such as ‘Queenpin’ and one of my favs from the series so far Gorty.
The humour gets even darker in this episode so this is not for those who are easily offended, however you wouldn’t be playing a Borderlands game if that wasn’t your sort of thing. The plot is as good as the previous two episodes plus its the funniest on in the series so far. Borderlands fans will also be happy to see how the events of this game are starting to sync up with the main series.
Again with Telltale games you know what to expect a bit of action, bit of dialogue and a few story changing choices along the way. Catch a Ride does a great job of balancing these sections this time round and is actually one of the best paced Telltale episodes I have ever played. Yes the game is mainly quicktime events but I think it’s fun to play.
Some of the choices this time round again seem not really to be effecting the main narrative, apart from the odd one or two but the decisions you do make can have some hilarious consequences. Fiona has also been giving new abilities, like Rhys was in the previous episode, making her more interesting to play as.
This is where the Borderlands games shine and yet again the game both looks and sounds amazing. Voice cast is spot on yet again with the casting being some of the best, with actors deliver their lines perfectly. The direction of this game is award worthy and the intro for this episode is one of my favourites of all time.
Catch a Ride is to me the best in the series to date, it did feel short but that was because I was having so much fun playing it and didn’t want it to end. If you enjoy a good laugh then you should really give this series a go, Borderlands fans really are in for a treat and the episodes keep getting funnier and funnier.
Go out and buy this game!
