It’s #WitcherWeek on MGL and we are getting ready for some serious coverage as we build up to tomorrow’s release date. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and it’s something RPG fans have been waiting on for a very long time.
But what features our there stand out to the team at MGL? Here are the top 5!
5. Dynamic Beard Growth
Yes! We love this feature and the team and MGL are excited about getting Geralt’s beard to epic lengths, the only disappointment here is the fact it’s not going to go stupidly long:
“The beard grows as time passes and when Geralt moves between locations. The beard has several “states” and these states determine its length – the longest is really long but it’s not Gandalf-long,” Platkow-Gilewski.
With some help from the good old MOD community I’m sure this will change, it’s also worth pointing out that there is some DLC that pre-defines your look:
“When you download the free Beard and Hairstyle DLC the growth of the beard will stop because we decided that when players want a predefined look, it would be weird to require from them to reapply it time after time.”
While styling your beard and keeping it that way is cool I think it would have good to have a mini game of shaving into different styles that eventually grow out as you play but this is a nice feature we can’t wait to get a taste of.
4. An epic Story
Of course the game is all about the narrative in The Witcher, the last game ended very much in epic fashion and the team here are really looking forward to here. What is also a huge part of this is not only the main story that of course involves Ciri; a character you will get to play is during your adventure. But it also means that everything you do will affect it.
Choices you make in side-quests or just how you conduct yourself will have an effect on the population of the world and how you are treated. This will make for some interesting experiences that will differ between players massively.
Then there are the key choices in the game and the various endings not to mention the options on bringing in your experience from other games. We cannot wait to find out what happens in this tale of The Witcher.
3. Getting a bit steamy!
Who doesn’t like a game that goes down the adult path? We love Dragon Age for its romance element but Geralt is a little less romantic and more about getting a bit naughty when the opportunity presents itself. The Sword of Destiny trailer teased this a bit recently and we want to see how far it goes.
2. Slice and Dice!
One thing we just love here on MGL is slicing up some monsters, demons and not so friendly humans with big swords and looking at the gameplay of the Witcher 3 we are going to be very happy.
They guys at CD Project RED have been creating a huge amount of animations into the combat of The Witcher 3 and the fact you can already see some brutal decapitations and slicing of limbs in the combat has us very excited to get on this ourselves.
1. That Open World
Now here in lies the big addiction of this game, the massive world which has had the two things said about it recently:
It takes 45 minutes to go from one side of the map to the other… on a horse!
That’s just ridiculous! The map is massive and with so many different types of land, cities and climates to explore plus all the different enemies that you can face it’s surely going to be something spectacular to experience. The phrase, “if you can see it you can get to it” has also been mentioned which is something I can’t wait to put to the test.
You can put in over 100 hours into the game and STILL have a map full of things to do!
What good is the biggest map out there if there is nothing in it?! It would literally be more of a hindrance than anything else. But no, it’s full of things to do outside of the main plot which in itself is likely to take towards the 50 hour mark.
The Hunts are only one part of the massive amounts of side quests, activities and encounters in this game and I can see it keeping us very much entertained right up until they launch more for it in the huge DLC packs they are releasing.
