Well E3 has been and gone, but the MGL team have been putting together the best E3 2017 games by choosing their Top 5 games, each! Many Xbox One, PS4, PC Games and Nintendo titles were shown off at the event, but only so many made our list!  We have also been looking at the Showcases/Presentations we liked most too, which will publish tomorrow (27th June). But here it’s all about the games and which ones our team are impressed by.

Below each of the team have picked their top five games and listed them. Do you agree? Are we all out of our god-damn-minds? Do you have a better list…? Probably! Use the Disqus or Facebook Comments at the end of the article to make your own list while you are here.

Don’t forget to share this around on social media too so others can get involved!

Hint: there are lots of links on the page too if you want to find out more on these cool games mentioned, simply click the game’s title to go to the official site.

Rossco’s Top 5 E3 Games

best e3 2017 games Rossco's List5. Super Mario Odyssey

E3 Conference: Nintendo
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Releases: 27 October 2017

Oh Mario I have missed you! It’s been a while since I owned a Nintendo console I actually used. That was the GameCube and came with the outstanding Super Mario Sunshine I adored. I did play Mario Galaxy on the Wii before I gave up on the console, but I am loving my Switch so far and will be sticking with it!

Mario is coming and he looks better than ever. This game and it’s twist on the Mario hat and taking control of… basically everything looks excellent. Personally I can’t wait for this and it was a real E3 2017 highlight.

4. Metro Exodus

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: 4A Games, Deep Silver
Releases: 2018

I was expecting a lot from Microsoft and their Xbox conference and I was instantly sucked into the feeling of cold and dilapidation in this gameplay. What’s more… it was clearly gameplay and something I love to see at conferences over flashy cut-scenes any day.

Everything about this screamed quality and made me want more. I still do and I think this was an impressive start.

3. Days Gone

E3 Conference: PlayStation
Developer/Publisher: Bend, Sony Interactive Entertainment
Releases: 2018

I was unsure if any further showings of Day’s Gone could have the same impact as the original reveal. When you get something as right as they did a year ago then, where do you go? But if anything I think they took it further.

They showed the darkness of the world this time. The danger of other people and the more story based missions and how you can take them on. It made me ready to play it right there. The only disappointment is the wait until next year!

2. Anthem

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Bioware, EA
Releases: Autumn (Fall), 2018

I was waiting for this since the teaser at EA play and boy did it deliver. I still think that with EA having their own conference they should have shown more, but it was spectacular when it arrived. As a Mass Effect fan it’s somewhat bitter-sweet to see a game looking that good after the so-so nature of Andromeda (in my opinion!).

Still, I thought it had a bit of everything. It had a giant world full of variety, the ability to customise you own cool suit called Javelins. Plus it seemed friendly to playing both solo and with others. While story elements are something to be dived into later, all-in-all this was mighty impressive.

1. Spider-Man

E3 Conference: PlayStation
Developer/Publisher: Insomniac Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment
Releases: 2018

There was a moment I got the same smile my 4 year old daughter get’s when her favourite film comes on (Secret Life of Pets usually does it for her). The initial cut-scene changed into gameplay with a flow that left me stunned. Then Spiderman is taking down goons from above with some real flow and precision that made my jaw drop and a giant grin appear all over my face.

Growing up a Spidey fan I have longed for a truly amazing game. I enjoyed Spiderman VS the Kingpin on my Mega Drive (Genesis), Spiderman 2 was also great and I enjoyed The Amazing Spiderman on PS3. But they were all good because I got to be Spidey rather than being truly great games.

To see a Insomniac game, with all their quality like seen in Ratchet and Clank, show off such outstanding gameplay already I was left feeling very excited about this title. It’s a shame again it’s not out this year (while not related to the film, I expected it this year give the Spiderman hype going around). But I do think this will be worth the wait.

David’s Top 5 E3 Games

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Turn 10 Studios, Microsoft
Releases: 3rd October 2017

As one of the only games I’ve ever given a 10/10 to, Forza Motorsport holds a special place in my heart. Two years ago, the rain that impacted the physics in a realistic manner blew me away.

Forza’s seventh installment looks set to take full advantage of the Xbox One X’s power. Assuming you have a 4K TV of course.

4. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

E3 Conference: Ubisoft
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo/Ubisoft
Releases: 29th August 2017

In what was very much the butt of a joke on Twitter before the announcement, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle looks like XCOM in the Mushroom Kingdom. With its turn-based strategy and over-the-top humour, this could introduce kids on the Nintendo Switch to a whole new genre of game they’d likely take much longer to encounter otherwise.

Shout out to Laura Kate Dale for leaking this long before the announcement. She was absolutely right about its existence.

3. Far Cry 5

E3 Conference: Ubisoft
Developer/Publisher: Ubisoft
Releases: 27th February 2018

Far Cry games are one of the few Ubisoft properties I find genuinely engaging. I feel I over-rated Primal back last year, but there’s no doubt in my mind that the fifth game will put a grenade launcher back in my hand for glorious outpost takeovers in some hopefully new and unique ways.

2. Spider-Man

E3 Conference: PlayStation
Developer/Publisher: Insomniac, Sony Interactive Entertainment
Releases: 2018

Last year, Sony showed off a brief teaser for Spider-Man. At the time, I was cautiously optimistic. Now, having seen the acrobatic antics of Peter Parker and the fluidity of movement via the web slinging, I’m sold.

To me, it’s the true successor to the Batman Arkham series despite being made by the people behind Ratchet and Clank (also an excellent game).

1. Super Mario Odyssey

E3 Conference: Nintendo
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Releases: 27th October 2017

Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t like the Super Mario Galaxy games. As such, Odyssey is refreshing to me. With a host of new abilities via Mario’s hat companion, Cappy, it looks set to be the greatest Mario game since 64 and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

T-Rex Mario? Yes please.

5. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

E3 Conference: Ubisoft
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo/Ubisoft
Releases: August 29th, 2017

I’m not a big fan of Rabbids (at all), but this game surprised me with how fun it looked. Like a Mario/X-Com mash-up, it looks interesting and that tactical element looks fun to play.

4. Monster Hunter World

E3 Conference: PlayStation
Developer/Publisher: Capcom
Releases: 2018

I really love Monster Hunter. Really. I’ve sunk so much time into playing these games on handhelds, but the fact that there is a Monster Hunter coming out that looks gorgeous and I can play it on my 55″ 4K OLED TV with a proper controller in my hands just makes me beyond happy.

3. Black Desert

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Pearl Abyss, Microsoft
Releases: 2018

As someone who owns a terrible PC and LOVES RPG’s, character creation and the like, Black Desert looked like heaven for me but sadly I could never play it. I may or may not have cried happy tears about it coming to consoles. Can’t WAIT until I can get my hands on it!

2. Assassin’s Creed Origins

E3 Conference: Ubisoft
Developer/Publisher: Ubisoft
Releases: October 27th, 2017

Skipping a year was clearly a good decision, as Assassins Creed Origins looks fresh and beautiful. With new RPG mechanics and an Egyptian setting, I believe this game is going to be awesome!

1. Anthem

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Bioware, EA Games
Releases: 2018

A lush Avatar-like open world RPG where you can fly around like Iron-Man and explore everything? SIGN ME UP!

Lawrence’s Top 5 E3 Games

best e3 2017 games Lawrence's List5. Doom VFR

E3 Conference: Bethesda
Developer/Publisher: ID Soft and Bethesda
Releases: Late 2017

Doom is one of my all time favourite games, it got me into FPS gaming and I’ve always dipped into each redux for the title. This time with VR coming to the PSVR platform I can’t wait to get immersed in those savage gunning and running battles, surrounded by 360 degrees of hell!

Talk about a game that’s going to have you checking your shorts as well as your ammo counts!

4. State of Decay 2

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Microsoft / Undead Studios
Releases: Mid 2018

Zombie survival mayhem, scavenging, base building post apocalyptic gaming is back as a sequel to the original game. Hopefully this time some of the bugs will get ironed out and the new ways of co-opping look fun.

The first game was good in premise but sometimes got frustrating. This time i’m really looking forward to scavenging the sandbox world and keeping the wretched at bay.

3. Skyrim on Switch

E3 Conference: Nintendo
Developer/Publisher: Bethesda
Releases: 2018

Super excited to return to the world of Skyrim, seek out the Greybeards and for fill the prophecies of the Dragonborn. This time its going to be on the mobile platform of the Nintendo Switch.

The added excitement was the use of Amiibos in the game bringing Hyrule clothing and weapons to the game, plus the special extra areas.

2. Monster Hunter World

E3 Conference: PlayStation
Developer/Publisher: Capcom
Releases: 2018

After the nondescript statement that Monster Hunter XX isn’t going to get a westernised version, hearing that Monster Hunter World is coming to PC and console really saved the franchise.

Having played MH on small handheld screens I cant wait to get hunting again on the big screen.  High hopes for this game.

1. Super Mario Odyssey

E3 Conference: Nintendo
Developer/Publisher: Nintendo
Releases: Late 2017

This open world game captures all the joy and amusement of the legacy Mario world games, bringing real life sandbox environments to the Mario gaming genre. Introducing a new sidekick for Mario, Cappie! The red Mario Cap, who couldn’t like it?

I can’t wait to get exploring the wacky world when it gets released.

5. Spider-Man

E3 Conference: PlayStation
Developer/Publisher: Insomniac, Sony Interactive Entertainment
Releases: 2018

As a big fan of Spidey, the fact that Sony have given a triple-A feel to this outing, and given it a showcase slot excites me, plus, did you see that game footage? It was simply outstanding as has been mentioned by others. I simply cannot wait to play.

4. Wolfenstein: the New Colossus

E3 Conference: Bethesda
Developer/Publisher: Bethesda
Releases: 27 October 2017

Bethesda were underwhelming at E3 this year for me, but as someone who loved Wolfenstein: New Order, seeing a direct sequel unveiled was a HUGE plus for me personally. The trailer was outstanding and really stood out as the pick of Bethesda’s conference and one to watch big time.

3. Life Is Strange: Before the storm

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Square Enix
Releases: September 2017

I picked up the first season on a sale, as was blown away by its story and tone. Seeing more of this world will be totally worth it for me. Even if the trailer didn’t tell us much, it’s clear its going to have more outstanding storytelling involved.  They get the cast right again and tidy the game up slightly from the first, this will be an excellent graphic adventure style game.

2. Crackdown 3

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Microsoft Studios
Releases: November 7th

I love the original crackdown, and quite enjoyed crackdown 2, and now you can level buildings – this seems made for mayhem and that excites me. Terry Crews is a legend too so to see him introduce it was a really nice touch. We’ve been waiting a long time for this and to come as a launch title for the Xbox One X could really move some consoles.

1. Anthem

E3 Conference: Xbox
Developer/Publisher: Bioware, EA Games
Releases: Q4 2018

Mech suits; check. Monsters; check. Dragon Age developer; check. This game had most of us here at MGL impressed and, for me this had me very excited. It was the pick of the show for me personally and a game that may well restore Bioware’s slightly dented reputation.
