Red Dead Redemption 2 Review Roundup: Scores & Themes

With Red Dead Redemption and Rockstar, we knew to expect something special. As we delved into the game’s features in the above video and put them on MGL here. It was clear everything about the build-up looked like something of a step forward for the developer.

In the reviews we are getting very similar themes of Rockstar’s best storytelling; best facial animations and attention to detail. The soundtrack is getting a lot of love for being so good while you play. Plus the incredible number of things to do around the world will keep you coming back way after the 60-hour story.

Realism is the only decisive factor in most of the reviews. Things, like brewing your coffee and needing to find your lost hat, might be “too real” for some and make the activities feel like a chore.

Given the game promised realism I expect this will come down to personal taste rather than a reflection of the game.

As you’ll see from the scores below it’s getting 10s and 9s with a current Metacritic rating of 97. Not too shabby! See the scores and videos below.
